AXS-One Reports License Revenue Increase Of 14% For First Quarter

RUTHERFORD, NJ, April 30, 2001 - AXS-One Inc. (AMEX: AXO) today reported first quarter license revenues and total revenues of $2.3 million and $11.6 million compared to $2.0 million and $11.9 million for the same quarter last year.* The Company also reported an operating loss, net loss, and basic and diluted net loss per common share for the quarter ended March 31, 2001 of $(978,000), $(1,172,000), and $(0.05) per share respectively, compared to operating income, net income, and basic and diluted net income per common share of $302,000, $242,000, and $0.01 per share respectively, for the same period in 2000.

"We at AXS-One continue to build on our new brand, launched in the fourth quarter of 2000, and to bring on board highly skilled professionals in sales, marketing and research and development to ensure our long-term strategy - building a strong foundation from which AXS-One can take a leadership role in e-business and professional services automation markets," commented John Rade, CEO and President, AXS-One Inc.

"I am proud that we achieved a 14% increase in license revenues in the first quarter as compared to the same period last year, despite a lagging economy and that we were able to hold to our long-term strategy of increasing sales and marketing efforts while controlling all other expenses. In fact, our first quarter 2001 operating loss, which is less than planned, is almost identical to our increased spending in sales and marketing from the first quarter of 2000. The result is that today we have more than twice as many direct quota-carrying sales people than a year ago to help generate 2001 revenue. We're confident that because of our track record in helping companies streamline their business and reduce costs, we are well positioned this year even if the economy continues to lag. And we will be especially able to take advantage when the economy does come around, because of not having missed a beat with our distribution channel expansion nor our development of e-business solutions," added Mr. Rade.
